Ever since I started visting Costa Rica in 2011, I've returned every year (except for 2020). You might wonder why someone who loves to travel would go to the same country over and over when there are so many places to visit. While I do love to experience new places, and do travel somewhere new at least once a year, Costa Rica keeps calling me back. There are many reasons for that, but I wanted to share my top five with you today.
The People - Ticos and Ticas (Costa Ricans) are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. In addition to the friendliness of the locals, I love witnessing the bonds that form between retreat participants during the annual retreats I've led in Costa Rica since 2015.
The Landscape - Costa Rica may be small but it is ecologically diverse. At our latest retreat location, you can enjoy miles of hiking trails, two beautiful beaches steps from our hotel, and optional excurions to nearby sites like RÃo Celeste.
The Wildlife - Costa Rica has made an effort to protect the many species that call the country home. You will likely see multiple types of birds, howler monkeys, and turtles while on retreat. I've witnessed the hatching of baby sea turtles a few times and it's the most incredible experience watching hundreds of turtles dig out of the sand and make their way to the water - it's a tough journey!
The Sunsets - As somone who lives in the mountains, when I'm in Costa Rica I'm always eager to make my way to the beach or to the rooftop pool each day to watch the sun dip into the ocean. The colors are spectacular especially when there are some clouds.
The Yoga - Costa Rica is a yoga mecca, and Las Catalinas is no exception. The "Pura Vida" attitude fits perfectly with a yogic lifestyle. The places I've stayed have wonderful yoga spaces with a vibe that immediately helps you relax and let go of the stress of your hectic life at home. There are many local providers who create amazing experiences, such as the sound healing that we include as part of our retreat at Las Catalinas.
Not on the list, but a big plus is the ease of getting to Costa Rica with many direct flights from major U.S. and Canadian cities. I can take off from Denver and be landing in Liberia about five hours later.Â
This year more than ever is the time to join us for our annual Bliss, Balance, and Beach Retreat in Costa Rica November 9 - 16, 2024, because (and this time I really mean it), we will not be leading a retreat in Costa Rica in 2025 to make space for some European adventures.Â
Las Catalinas is located on the Nicoya Peninsula, about an hour's drive from the Liberia airport, and only steps away from beautiful Danta Beach. The retreat is already half full with attendees from last year. I expect this retreat to sell out, so secure your space now so you don't miss out.
On this retrat you'll have the opportunity to practice yoga each day, enjoy delicious food, and participate in activities and coaching that allow you to tap into your inner resources, so you can leave the retreat feeling better in your body, having more energy, and increased overall happiness so you can thrive!Â
There are only four rooms left. Secure yours now.
