The Magic of Costa Rica

I was talking to a friend last night about the reasons I return to Costa Rica year after year. I explained that I love traveling in Costa Rica because of the people, the beaches, the Pura Vida lifestyle, the food, the monkeys (and various other wildlife), and how beautifully wild it is there. Later I was thinking more about it, and realized that the biggest reason I return is something that is a bit harder to explain – a certain magic that you have to feel for yourself to understand.

I'm not sure if the magic is a result of the people and Pura Vida lifestyle, or if it is the energy of the ocean and the abundant life (the trees, plants and animals), but likely it is a combination of everything. The Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica is one of the world’s Blue Zones (demographic and/or geographic area of the world where people live measurably longer lives), so there is definitely something special in the community and environment that promotes health and happiness.

This coming February will be my fifth trip to Costa Rica (in as many years), and each time I return, I find myself broken open – in a good way. Being there makes me feel alive, and vulnerable in a way that allows me to heal past pains and understand myself better. With each visit, I return with more light and love - ready to share with others. Maybe it’s the wholesome food, the minerals in the ocean, the sacred yoga spaces (and the people who fill them), but whatever makes Costa Rica so special is pure magic to me.

If you would like to experience some of this magic for yourself, join me March 10-19, 2016 for the Summit to Sea Yoga Adventure. We will travel from Costa Rica’s highest peak in Chirripo National Park to its pristine, untouched beaches of the Osa Peninsula. All the while enjoying wholesome food, amazing adventure and connecting our bodies, minds and spirits with yoga for all levels. See the Events page for more details and to register. Check out the slideshow on YouTube for inspiration.
