Retreat to Costa Rica

Today is the first full day of my five-week stay in beautiful Costa Rica. I’ll be spending the next two weeks in yoga teacher advanced training at the Nosara Yoga Institute (NYI). This is the second installment of the three-part certification that will result in my 500-hour yoga teacher registration. I started this journey in December 2013 with two weeks of anatomy training at NYI. This session will focus on the inner quest of the yoga teacher to better position me to understand my students’ needs in class.

After training, I’m off to the Osa Peninsula to check out a couple of potential retreat sites for next winter. This will be my first time to this part of Costa Rica that is known as one of the most biologically diverse areas on the planet. From Osa, I’ll make my way by plane and automobile to Puerto Viejo to spend a week on a permaculture farm where I will hopefully pick up some good tips for how to maximize the sustainability of my future land in Colorado.

For my final week, I’ll make the journey back across the country to Nosara to lead eight wonderful women on a yoga retreat at Blue Spirit yoga resort. This will be my first time leading a retreat. I’m looking forward sharing my love of Costa Rica and yoga with friends (old and new). There is one room still available, so if you would like to join us please register on the Retreat page before the end of March.

While I’m excited for this amazing adventure, leaving my pets and loved ones behind for this long was difficult. I’m hopeful that I’ll return with a renewed energy and focus on what is most important to me, and be better positioned for a transition to a life of essentialism. Check out next week’s blog to learn more about essentialism.
