I was in Denver last weekend and stumbled upon the Catrinas en mi Ciudad Cultural Art Exhibit outside the Denver Performing Arts Center. The exhibit celebrates Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a meaningful cultural event that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away. The exhibit included larger-than-life Calaveros (skulls) and Catrinas (tall female skeletons wearing fancy attire). The monarch butterfly was also represented.
