Summer Outdoor Event Series
Starting June 5, 2022
Get outside with Firefly this summer! We're excited to offer in-person events to help you connect to yourself, others and nature. There's something for everyone with walking, hiking, biking, yoga, and stand up paddle boarding. Satisfy your longing for a connection to nature as you explore all that Colorado has to offer by foot, bike, and board. Tap into nature's ability to inspire.
Experiencing mindful time outdoors to attune with nature's cycles is a powerful way to reduce stress, improve well-being, and find more joy in life! The average American spends 11 hours per day on a screen, and more than 90% of their lives indoors. Unplug and join us outside to rejuvenate your soul. Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) Yoga
Starting June 5, through August 28
Experience Colorado's freshest water sport, Stand Up Paddleboarding, held on the calm waters of Evergreen Lake in Evergreen, CO, and Big Soda Lake in Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, CO.
We'll practice yoga poses to incorporate strength, balance, core, and flexibility. One of the fastest-growing water sports, SUP yoga combines the healthy benefits of outdoor recreation with the fundamentals of asana practice in a way that is accessible to all experience levels. Enjoy the serenity of taking your yoga on the water!
You must register in advance through the Evergreen Recreation department for classes at Evergreen Lake, and through Rocky Mountain Paddleboard (select "Book Lakewood") for classes at Bear Creek Lake Park. Registration includes the equipment that you'll need for class.
At Evergreen Lake, I'm teaching the SUP yoga classes on Thursdays starting June 9 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. At Bear Creek Lake Park, I'm teaching on Sundays starting June 5 from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM. Please note that I am not teaching on the following dates: June 19, July 3 & 10, and August 7.
Denver Heart and Stroke Walk - Firefly Community Team Walk in Evergreen, CO
Saturday, June 11, 2022
As a heart disease survivor, I'm pleased to be leading a team for the annual Denver Heart & Stroke Walk again this year. While the main event will be vin Denver on Saturday, June 4, I'm hosting a group walk for Firefly Community's team in Evergreen on Saturday, June 11. Whether you choose to walk with us, or participate by walking where you are, take a moment to consider your impact. You will keep hearts beating.
Heart Walk has always been about coming together, getting hearts pumping, honoring survivors, raising lifesaving funds – and having fun along the way.
Thank you for your passion and dedication to the mission: To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives!
Registration is closed. I'm happy to announce that we raised over $900 for the American Heart Association. Thanks for your support!
WholeHearted Bike Tour in Golden, CO
The WholeHearted Bike Tour is back in-person this year! When I was 31 years old, I suffered a heart attack while on a 60-mile bike ride in the foothills of Colorado. A lot has changed since then! I became a Holistic Health Practitioner, then a Yoga Teacher, left my 18-year career in Human Resources, and started Firefly Community to help others find their path to health and happiness. I've hosted four in-person WholeHearted Bike Tours, and one virtual tour in 2020.
Join us in a ride in Golden, CO to support the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine. PCRM's vision is "Creating a healthier world through a new emphasis on plant-based nutrition and scientific research conducted ethically, without using animals." PCRM's efforts are dramatically changing the way doctors treat chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and cancer. By putting prevention over pills, doctors are empowering their patients to take control of their own health.
Whether your bike is a road, hybrid, mountain, or cruiser, join us on a paved bike path in Golden along Clear Creek. I'll outline different options of where to turn around based on how far you want to go! The path is tree-lined for nearly its entire route, and seldom far from the pleasant sound of rushing water.
Register to participate here to receive the full logistics for this event.
