Mexico Yoga Retreat for Firefly Alumni

This is a unique opportunity, initially being offered for only Firefly retreat alumni and their guests, to retreat at a brand new luxury villa on an island off the coast of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The private Mixto villas have six bedrooms with private bathrooms and AC, a kitchen and dining area, and a pool, all within steps of the beach.
This one-of-a-kind experience includes daily yoga, a volunteer activity to give back to the small community of Quimixto, a walk to a waterfall, free use of kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling equipment, and the ability to add surf lessons, a cooking class, or one-on-one holistic wellness coaching sessions.

What to Expect
This week on an island off the coast of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico will include:
Daily yoga classes appropriate for all levels including vinyasa-style practice to energize and yin practice to recuperate and restore
Three delicious meals per day beginning with dinner on Saturday evening and ending with breakfast on the last morning
Access to the amenities of the villas, including the private pool, kayaks, paddle boards, and snorkeling equipment
Seven nights of lodging at Mixto Villas (see below for room options)
Optional group walk to a local waterfall
Optional group service activity to give back to the local community
The opportunity to add surfing lessons, a cooking class to learn about the local cuisine, or one-on-one holistic wellness coaching sessions.
A full schedule of meals, yoga classes, and group activities will be provided closer to the retreat dates.
Retreat rate includes:
7 nights accommodations at Mixto Villas
Three delicious meals per day (dinner only on arrival day and breakfast only on departure day) and water, coffee and tea throughout the day

Mixto is a tropical oasis nestled in the heart of a picturesque Mexican fishing village, right on the doorstep of a charming beach. Immerse yourself in the idyllic charm of Quimixto, where the lively sounds of folklore mingle with the warmth and hospitality of the townspeople.
Deeply connected to the land, Mixto is designed to enhance your feeling of connection with nature.
Enjoy this magical setting from two villas with a private deck and pool. At the top of each villa sits a dreamlike penthouse with an elegant bed and a palapa roof. One villa has four cozy and peaceful rooms overlooking the ocean, while the other villa has the kitchen and open-air dining area.
Each of the four Beach Rooms (450 sq ft each) can be set up with either two twin beds or one king bed, and also has a day bed. Each of the penthouses (865 sq ft each) has one king bed that can be set up as two twin beds if needed, and a day bed. All rooms have ocean views, private bathrooms, WiFi, a safe for your personal items, and AC.
Getting there: Mixto is only accessible by boat, there is no road leading to the resort. Guests should book an arrival flight that lands no later than 4:00 PM and a departure flight that takes off no earlier than 12:00 PM. Shuttle service includes: transfer by taxi or van from the airport to the Terminal Maritima, and transfer by boat to Mixto. Any guest arriving after 4:30 PM will be required to find and pay for their own accommodations in Puerto Vallarta and will be transferred in the morning.

Join us on this culinary journey, in which you will learn to make a number of Mexican dishes full of delicious flavor.
The cooking class begins at the end of lunch, around 3:30 pm, and sometimes at the end of breakfast around 12:00 noon, with restaurant manager Luis Fernando, accompanied by the best chef at Xinalani, Rodelinda.
You'll be provided with a menu with all the necessary ingredients to make each pre-designed dish. You'll be guided step by step through the recipe for each of them. After, you can enjoy your freshly made creation.
If you have a special request about a dish you'd like to make, ask the restaurant manager.

Your coach is Carrie Lehtonen. A heart attack at 31-years old stopped Carrie in her tracks. Through her journey to a more healthful, inspired life, Carrie uncovered tools and created resources that support physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
Payment Details and
To secure your space on the retreat a non-refundable US $500 deposit is required. A payment schedule will be provided upon registration, however, you may pay in full at any time prior to October 16, 2023.
Anyone registering after October 16, 2023 will be expected to pay in full upon registration.
Should you need to cancel your reservation at least 90 days prior to the start of the retreat, you will receive a refund for payment made less the $500 deposit. Should you need to cancel less than 90 days prior to the retreat, for whatever reason, we will not be able to provide a refund or credit. No refund or credit will be given for arriving late or departing early. Payments must be made in accordance with the payment schedule in order to hold your space. In the unlikely event Firefly needs to cancel the retreat, a full refund will be given.
We strongly advise the purchase of travel insurance at the time of booking your retreat in case of any unexpected events or changes to your plans before or during your trip.
Meet Your Guide: Carrie Lehtonen
Carrie Lehtonen's second chance at life came at 31 years old when a blood clot in her coronary artery resulted in a heart attack. As a healthy triathlete in the prime of her life, Carrie was the last person anyone would suspect of having heart disease.
After 20 years of experience in Human Resources, Carrie chose to change careers so she could help people find their path to better health and live inspired lives. Carrie is committed to reducing the impact of heart disease, and loves seeing people light up when they learn something new, challenge themselves beyond what they think they are capable of, and tap into their passion.
Carrie created Firefly because she believes that what the world needs most is for each person to uncover their passion and live an inspired life. We each have a unique gift, and it's Carrie's mission to help you ignite your inner light so that you can shine!
Carrie lives in Evergreen, CO with her husband and four fur-babies (two cats and two dogs). Carrie is a life-long learner, and loves to travel to experience different cultures and see diverse natural environments. Carrie has been teaching yoga for 10 years and leading retreats around the world for eight years.
Carrie is a Registered Yoga Teacher and Educator (E-RYT500) with training from CorePower Yoga and Vessilify in Colorado, Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica, and Prajna Yoga in New Mexico. She has training in vinyasa yoga, yin yoga, anatomy, Self Awakening Yoga (SAY), Yoga Therapeutics and Stand Up Paddleboard yoga. Carrie is a Holistic Health Practitioner, and attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she was trained in more than one hundred dietary theories and studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods.
